Help! Our dogs chew on EVERYTHING!?

Mags

We have two 7.5 month old puppies who will chew on anything and everything... they've destroyed their beds, their toys, their blankets, the baseboards, the vertical blinds, the bottom stair, the window ledge and are currently working on the bottom corner of the dishwasher?!?!!

Any recommendation for stronger, better chew toys? Or other distractions? Training tips? etc.
We've tried the no chew spray "bitter yuck" and they just lick it off !!

Answer
How much exercise are they getting, tired dogs don't chew? Dogs will chew out of boredom, or separation anxiety. They should never be unsupervised and if they can't be watched then they should be crated up so they can't destroy. Large deer antlers are really indestructible a large raw hide, kong toys. Be sure to puppy proof the house no shoes, lift up the vertical blinds and remove objects they can get at and eat Spray everything with listerine, dogs hate the smell and the taste and it's non staining. If you see them chew shake an empty can with pennies in it to startle them, or spray with water. It's best to stop the habit when you see it and at 7.5 months these dogs should not be left unsupervised and crated when you're not around. Dogs must earn the right to be uncrated. chewing stops around age 3, that's when my Weim stopped destroying the house and even now I still puppy proof and don't leave temptation in her way.

Transport dog crates - How can I choose the right one ?

Can anyone give me some info how can I choose the right transport dog crate for my dog ?

Answer
Choose a crate that is 1 1/2 times the length of your dog when fully grown. Your dog should be able to stand up, turn around and lie down in the crate comfortably. If it's for a puppy, a partition should be placed so that she has 1 1/2 times her length to move around. Some crates come with a divider panel that can be adjusted to the different growth stages. If you prefer, you can choose one without dividers and make your own out of something indestructible, such as plywood.

Size the crate according to your dog's breed. The following is a good guide: Extra small: Chihuahua, Pomeranian, Shih Tzu Small: Boston Terrier, Jack Russell, Yorkie, Maltese Medium: Cairn Terrier, Cocker Spaniel, Llasa Apso, Dachshund Large: Basset Hound, Bulldog, Welsh Corgi, Shar-Pei XLarge: Chow, Collie, Dalmation XXLarge: German Shepherd, Greyhound, Golden/Labrador Retriever
