LB2007

I have a two month old black lab who eats everything! Right now the ground cover in her kennel is pea gravel, but I am afraid she might eat some of it. Has anyone used river rock? Any other suggestions are appreciated!

Answer
Pea Gravel, or cement pad, or even patio stones.

How long will it take my dog to get used to a new apartment?? What is the best way to control his barking??

scotterson

I have a 3 year old yellow lab. I recently moved from my sister house to a new apartment in a different city. My dog stayed with my sister for a month, so i could get settled. My dog recently moved in with me. When I lived with my sister my dog would rarely bark when we left him unless he had been in his kennel all day, and he needed some exercise. When I leave my dog alone in his kennel in my new apartment he has been barking very loud almost like he is panicing. I did not want to get a bark collar but I did not know anyway to stop the barking. I got hime a bark collar the 2nd day he was here. The first time that I left him alone, is was the worst thing I have ever witnessed. He was panicing and was trying to bark over the bark collar. I felt so bad for my dog as he did not want to be left alone and did not like the bark collar. I am really looking for some help, I want to know how long it usually takes a dog to get used to a new place, and any tips to help me and my dog.

Answer
I don't know a lot about behavioral issues, but I have heard of one thing that seemed to work well for my dog.

I had random people, neighbors, etc. come to the door and give the dog treats. The idea is that eventually, the dog thinks of the people floating around the apartment complex as good things and not anything to be alarmed about.

Since your dog's anxiety sounds pretty severe, you might even want to consider a trip to the vet's to ask for some sedatives. They really seem to help dogs who have these types of problems. One I see used frequntly is Clomicalm.

We are going to be getting an Australian Shepherd Puppy in the next couple of months and are looking to find a dog crate- pref. used- that is on the cheaper side. Does anyone have any or anything that they are selling, reduced price?

Answer
Try http://www.craigslist.com - usually there are people on there selling unneeded and even new crates for reasonable prices.

You can also try browsing your local newspaper in the classifieds, surely one day you'll come across someone selling an inexpensive crate.

Would it be possible to convert a dog kennel into an outdoor rabbit/guinea pig hutch?

Darkhallow

I've been looking around for a cheap out door hutch for my guinea pigs during spring/summer, and found a rather large dog crate for sale... with some adjustments, could I turn it into a guinea pig hutch?

Answer
It depends what type of dog crate. I would most definitely not try it is the dog crate was previously used by a dog, as the scent (even if it was washed) will scare the animals.

This type will not work ---> http://blog.timesunion.com/bark/files/2009/06/dog-crate.jpg

But this type should. ---> http://www.extralargedogcrateshop.com/images/DogCrate.jpg

Just make sure there are no big openings or loose wires/cables that a dog wouldn't be affected by but a Guinea Pig would. Good Luck!

How do you start a dog walking Business?

best dog boarding san francisco on Top Bay Area Places To Pamper Your Dog CBS San Francisco
best dog boarding san francisco image

Fashion Fe

Hey well im 13 and I really LOVE animals! I really want to start a dog walking buisness but I am getting no customers... Me and friend made flyers and hung one up on everyones door ( on our neighborhood) putting my information, and this is a week ago! I really need help! And I would do it this summer since im not busy and I have experince before

Answer
Below given steps will help you.

1. Get the right training. The Dog Walking Academy, for example, offers a certificate in dog walking to graduates of a workshop that takes place in multiple locations. Students gain increased understanding of animal behavior, techniques in dog fighting and pack management, and comprehensive knowledge of how to market and manage the business.
2. Compile a business plan. Calculate the number of hours each day that you can devote to the business, work out how much money you require to start, and what you need to earn each month for the business to be viable.
3. Decide on the services you will offer. These may include overnight pet sitting in the owner's home or yours, or doggie day care if you have suitable premises. You can offer long or short dog walks for groups and individuals, or 15-minute potty breaks for dogs that live close by.
4. Research the going rates for dog walking and sitting in your area and set your prices. Services in suburban areas are often cheaper than downtown, and dog walkers can tailor their prices to provide a discount for more than one dog. According to Pet Business Experts' website, the average price for dog walking in 2011 is between $22 and $30 per hour, and half price for a second dog from the same client that will be walking with the first dog.
5. Register your business by completing the application form on the U.S. Small Business Administration's (SBA) website, and contact the IRS to register for business and sales tax. Find out from your state authority if you require a boarding kennel or other license to pet sit in your home.
6. Join local and national pet sitting associations, such as Petsit USA, Petsitters International and the National Association of Professional Petsitters. These associations and others, such as the San Francisco Professional Dog Walkers Association, have rules and standards for members to adhere to, as well as directories on which they will list your business for marketing purposes.
7. Take out liability insurance to protect yourself and your income, and a fidelity bond that will cover any losses to clients resulting from your actions. Most business permits require you to have these in place before you apply for your license, and clients will welcome the fact that you do.
8. Create a website, fliers and business cards for marketing your business. Ask your local pet store and veterinarian's office to display these on your behalf, and to refer potential clients to your services. Ask your friends to share your website on their social media pages, and to refer you to pet owners they know.

Is there a place I can leave my dog for a while, but visit and never surrender?

Chris P

Hi.
I'm going to college soon, but I won't abandon my dog no matter what (my parents work from 6am-9pm, they can't care for him).

Is there a place in San Francisco, CA or anywhere that foster cares a dog for you, but you stican still can own the dog?
And I would visit very often, and pay for all expenses.

Answer
Check the yellow pages for boarding facilities in your area. Some people do in-home boarding instead of kennels.
Or see if you can find a friend who is willing to foster your dog for you if you provide all food, vetting etc. Make sure to get an agreement it in writing so they don't attempt to claim ownership at a later date.

Good luck!

I am looking into getting a few ducks this summer. I have a large empty dog kennel (and I'd build a house for them) and was thinking about getting 2-4 ducks.

What type of ducks can handle extreme weather (when provided with shelter) and preferably do not fly?

Answer
I think mallards are the best. They are the only wild duck that is breed. Any other duck is breed for meat and eggs. I can't imagine eating my own ducks. When they are 3-5 month, you can release them into the wild where they will live with other ducks. If you don't buy them, they will be force fed and be slaughter at 2-3 month anyways. I hope you get mallards.

Can anyone with a private jet fly my dog to Nicaragua?

Kelly Ross

I'm trying to fly to Nicaragua on April 3rd. I would LOVE to take my dog with me, she's a Labrador Retriever mix. She is a little over weight which that's whats holding me back from taking her. She weights about 90lbs. The max a dog, the kennel and the food can weight is 100lbs. The kennel itself is about 27lbs. I would really like to know if anyone would take my dog and how much would they charge to take her to Nicaragua for me, on a private jet. Would that be possible?

Answer
Are you moving there? The quarantine times are around 30 days once she arrives. A private jet runs about 1600 - $2500 per flight hour so depending on where you live you can estimate your costs.

Is there plenty of room for them in it? I have a couple dog beds for my dog so he can have somewhere depending on where we are in the house but I wondered if maybe they'd rather be in a crate? Are crates too cramped for large breeds?
Oh no, I wasn't asking for punishment purposes or anything. My dog is fine with free run of the house. I'd just read in here quite a few times that they like their crates and are more comfortable in them. I was just curious for that reason if I should get one.

Answer
I have two Mastiffs. The older of the two is three; he is not crated. The younger of the two, who is about a year and a half old, is indeed crated. He's crated for an hour after each meal to force the two dogs to relax separately (this is to reduce the risk of bloat). He used to be crated at night and whenever he couldn't be watched, but he's maturing nicely. Because both dogs have proven to be trustworthy with free run of the house, neither of them are crated overnight or in our absence.

Yes, there is plenty of room in the crate, when he is crated. You need to buy a crate that fits the dog, obviously. Because mine is a giant breed, I have an XL crate. It's, what, 54" long? It's like this:
http://www.pawzpetcarecenter.com/1154u.html
He has more than enough room to sit and stand up. He can easily turn around and can lay down in various positions. Because the crate is suitable for his size, he isn't at all cramped.

As for your situation, no, a crate sounds unnecessary. Crate-trained dogs should love their crates, yes, but dogs who aren't crate-trained and who do not need crates won't really benefit much from them. They might like the cozy atmosphere, but unless your dog displays anxious tendencies (in which case he would benefit from having somewhere safe to hide), then I'm sure he's perfectly fine sleeping on his beds instead.

dog crate for hamster cage?

Christine

Hi, I have a question...can anyone let me know if there are any negatives to using a dog crate for a cage for 2 adult guinea pigs? The normal guinea pig cages are not strong enough for me since i have cats and dogs...also can guinea pigs be litter trained like rabbits can be?

thank you.

Answer
Actually, you can find a dog crate big enough for a pair of guinea pigs. It's difficult, but they do exist. But you will have to get an expensive extra-large one. This is one example: http://www.forhappydogs.com/p-133-54-single-door-starter-series-dog-crate-1154u.aspx At 54" x 35", it's actually bigger than the recommended 50" x 30" ( http://www.guineapigcages.com/ ).

However, these types of crates have very shallow bases. It would be difficult to provide adequate bedding for a guinea pig in such a cage (unless you use fleece). Plus, the bedding would spill out and make a huge mess.

You would also have to make sure the bar spacing in the cage was narrow enough so that a guinea pig could not get its head stuck.

I don't have personal experience doing this, but honestly, it might work.

What is a good crate for a great dane for travelling by plane?

cody k

my great dane will be about a year old when i fly and i'm looking for a crate that is suitable for a plane.. any help would be greatly appreciated
i do not drive or else i would :( and i planned on flying with him but unfortunately with his size he has to go on a seperate cargo plane. Was going to take the train so i could be with him but they do not take dogs heavier then 70lbs and i'm going half way across canada

Answer
Hello,
Great danes are huge dogs, I have one myself. They are gentle giants and the sweetest dogs in the world. Since there so big I'm guessing you need a big crate. The airline rules are that your dog needs to be able to stand up turn around, and lay down in the crate comfortably. Make sure the air lines will allow certain crates, some you can't have.
This one comes in A LOT of different colors and from the front it looks pretty big. Here are some more dog crates for your dog.
This one looks good if your great dane is a smaller one:

These ones are really neat. Make sure the plane allows them:

Your dog will need a few toys (If the plane allows) to play with on the long ride. This contains water and It's really cool! Be sure to ask if your dog can have it!

My great dane had this. He breaks all of his toys. It took him A LOONG time to break this one!

How long can my dog use a crate?

dog crates good or bad on Dog Crate Pad Presented By Dog Beds Comfortcom | Pomsky Picture
dog crates good or bad image

Isaac

So, I'm getting a puppy fairly soon - and have one main question.

I'm fifteen - and until some time when I was thirteen (mid year) when I moved in with my dad, I had dogs all my life.

I've had two dogs - a Cocker Spaniel crossed with a Lhasa Apso - which was always old in my life. She was generally a calm, kind dog - but occasionally would bite - and my first dog bite was actually from her - on my face.

My second dog was a Jack Russell/Parsons Russell. She was a lot better than my first - as I was old enough to help train her. My mum was pretty bad at training dogs, despite having had dogs for over half of her life. However, after I moved out, my mum ended up having to give her to her recluse ex boyfriend - just so she wouldn't be around people as her behaviour worsened after I left.

Anyway, I'm planning on getting another Jack - though I would like a Jack crossed with a Staffy, or a similar Jack cross. I've been reading a lot on dog behaviour, training and psychology. I've got to work for three months at any job I like, before my dad will let me get a dog - which I'm fine with.

I'm pretty confident about everything - and save for the dog itself, I've found everything I will need for the dog - and should be able to afford it from some of the money I earn from my job (my dad's willing to pay most of the money for the puppy, up to a point.) So, I've come to look for a crate. Obviously, I need a small crate for while the dog is a puppy - so I can properly house train it. However, as I'm at school for six hours (and throw in another hour for coming home) I was considering using a larger crate for part of the day when I'm away - my dad is willing to take her out a bit, but I think that if she learns to like the crate, there shouldn't be much of a problem.

However, I was just wondering if anyone who actually knows what their talking about has any ideas or tips to put toward this. Obviously, Dogs in the wild would have dens - and that's why its fairly easy, when done properly, to have a dog love its crate as its own personal space. But most people do give their dogs free roam of the house after a while - and I was wondering if perhaps having the crate long term for the dog (until I move out - as I have a job with my older brother in his web design company - which I can do from home - lined up when I'm sixteen) would be a good or a bad idea.

Thanks in advance - anything else, ask it in an answer - and check back soon.

In regards to the crate sizes, while its a puppy I would likely use a standard size travel crate - the kind you can carry around with you and that puppies would be in when being brought to the house commonly. Obviously, the dog is going to be a Jack - so it should be fairly small. The second crate I would get would be one that would go underneath my desk - which is roughly 40 wide x 24 deep x 27 inches high. I feel like that would be a fairly large crate for a Jack Russell - and wouldn't be used until the dog was house trained.
@Ronaldo

Sorry, but your answer was absolutely hilarious to read. Many dog behaviourists believe that having a crate for a dog is incredibly important. Obviously, in house training, it is a massive factor. Dog's sleep when in a crate, usually - they commonly sleep when their owner is away - or when their owner is sleeping. Sleeping in a cosy area that you associate as your own personal space is actually very comforting. Frankly, if you have had experience where having a crate is cruel, you've been doing it wrong. My last dog was introduced to a crate later in life - and took to it incredibly happily. She liked to sit in it, with the door open, when she wasn't on a walk or playing - and I never had to force her into it. That was a Jack cross Parsons - who was larger and more hyperactive than your average Terrier.
In regards to the dogs exercise, which I think I should have mentioned before due to the nature of the question, I'm planning on taking him/her on my jogs.

I jog for 30-45 minutes in the morning before school and then jog or walk for a while after school. I don't go out very often as my friends generally come over my house. This means that other than when I'm at school, I'll be with the dog - who will be out of the crate when I'm at home. In the next year or so, I'll be doing part time college - which obviously is a lot less time consuming that school - and working from home - so its not going to be long term. Its simply the fact that if a dog can benefit from having a crate later on also, as my previous dog seemed to, then I want to know how to conduct that properly.

Answer
You can do a couple of things. 1. Get a crate that adjusts to the growth of your puppy. 2. Get a soft crate that can fold. Click on the link below it has a review of crates and shows crates that adjust to a dog as they grow and soft crates that would be great for a travel crate. Best wishes.

Is it bad to put a blanket over my dogs crate so she can't see when she gets nervous?

Michelle M

I know dogs feel unsafe under a blanket but I thought they feel safer when they can't see anything, kinda like an ostrich? Haha. I've never done this before but is it ok to do it?

Answer
Not at all! This will make her feel more comfortable and less frightened!

I have a Doberman/German Shepard mix.He just barely turned one year old last month....We have already gone through about 15 different chains.I steadily went up in size with his growth to make sure the chain wasn't to heavy for him, he just breaks them.I tried putting him in a kennel but he just climbs out or digs under. He is currently on a heavy duty cattle chain with special made horse clips...and a cattle tie post that is 4 feet in the ground. But yesterday he got loose again...What do I do???I'm worried that if I get a bigger chain it would be considered illegal, Animal Control has already been by about his current chain but knows the situation and it has been approved. Any answers would be appreciated.I love this dog and do not want to have to get rid of him....I live in town and don't want him getting hit or upsetting the neighbors. Thank you.
I should have mentioned that I have tried the electric fence he does not respond to electric shocks...and that we do go for daily walks, so it's not from bordom

Is it ok to crate my kittens at night outside?

Victoria

I just got two new kitties. They were found in an outdoor shed at our neighbors house and we decided to take two home so they wouldn't be lonely while they adjusted. We intend for them to be outdoor cats once they are grown and we have taken time to adapt them and once they are up to date on shots and fixed. I have had them in our back hallway for a few nights and they have been perfect angels. We have been letting them out during the day to play and love on them also. Tonight at bed time though, they began to climb their enclosure and meow for us to come pet them. I don't want them to make a habit of this at night so I transferred all their things ( litter pan, enclosed bed and blankies, food and water, and toys) into a extra large dog crate and they have ample space to run around. Only thing is we have it on our front porch. I just want to hear some opinions as these are the first kittens we have had in years, on weather or not this will be ok. Our porch is secure, safe from any predators it's enclosed out of the elements and we live away from an area where anyone would steal them. If there were any reason they would be unsafe I would not put them out there but I have a husband who rises very early and a small child who will wake if the kitties get too rambunctious. Thanks in advance for any input.

Answer
A heavy duty crate is what you need to train them. Since you will be housing two of them, something bigger is needed. You can check out http://pets.become.com/heavy-duty-dog-crate for some options. However, training your cats, like dogs is important. Once, they get into the habit of night patting, etc. they will expect it more. Leave some toys in their crate. Leave them outside only once you and your family are awake.

The porch should be relatively safe. Also, as they grow older, they will learn to venture out more, but as of now, you need to keep them in a secure and safe environment and be vigilant! Check on them on and off, you can also get a barrier for the porch to make sure they donât venture off. Their threat right now is not only predators, but other pets too!

Are there dog crates that will accommodate two dogs with a divider and two doors?

dog crates on Wooden Dog Crates - Wooden Dog Crates
dog crates image

The Truth

We have limited space and I was wondering if any of you have seen dog crates made specifically for two dogs, with a divider between the dogs and two doors.

Answer
There ARE crates that would work like that, but you would have to do a solid divider (like a thick slab of wood) or two wire dividers set inches apart from one another to prevent the dogs from reaching through and getting at one another.

One wire divider would leave enough room for them to get at one another if they get agitated (which can happen), and ears/tails can be injured or lips torn up. My dog's crate has three doors - one in the middle front and one on each end. I could put dividers in there and be able to put one dog on each side no problem.

This one would work just as well (one door on each end):
http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3512172&lmdn=Crates+%26amp%3B+Kennels

Please remember that the crate should be only big enough for a dog to sit, stand, turn, and lay down comfortably. That may be difficult to do if you divide one up like that. You may end up with a space that's too big, which may lead to elimination in the crate if the dog(s) can sleep away from it.

And i would NEVER recommend letting two dogs share a crate - if they're shut in and get agitated (again, VERY possible) then they'll fight. Also, a crate should be a dog's personal den. Some dogs can get defensive over their spaces!

How can I repair a Wire dog Crate?

Roshelle B

I borrowed a wire dog crate (Coated wire pretty heavy duty) and my crazy beagle messed up the front including pulling some wires off. Is there some way I can fix this at home? I plan on telling her but I at least want to have it fixed!
Buying a new one is not a option right now, That is why I borrowed one. I did not think he would do this but things happen! With recently buying a house as well as 3 new rescues a $200 crate is just not in the budget...

Answer
My dog did the same thing to ours. I repaired mine by taking wire coat hangers and using a pair of linesman pliars.

I wove the new wire to match the old grid, I hope I made myself clear and I hope it helps.

Is it possible to breed a dog better than the wolf?

Like is it possible to create a dog breed that will actually be superior, to the original wolf in every way? Even dogs that are specialized in different areas are still little compared to the wolf.

Answer
i knew a guy who had a wolf, not one of these fake mixes where they supposedly bought a wolf mix and in truth its just a Doberman and husky mix...a real wolf 100%. and i said did cause he tried to raise it from pup after he found a few of them trying to suckle a dead mother and managed to catch the one. they are sly and cunning and smart enough to let themselves out of a crate, and vindictive, and hyper, and most of all NOT trainable. now mind you this guy works at the st. louis zoo and works training animals and was gonna try to get this one healthy enough to be placed in a zoo...but in 6 months time realized that a wolf has no business living with a man, and even if it did breed with a dog the mix would take someone much better than this guy who works with tigers and bears all day to deal with it.
so better in what way? better to live with man? it has already been done.
better hunters? doubt it cause dogs have been domesticated.
faster runners? well if we can ever put 2 side by side on a track without them trying to kill each other we will find out that answer.

but as for better, i think they already are. a wolf would not protect you...its instincts tell it to care for itself
a wolf only likes you when you are feeding it, a dog loves you all the time.
so sorry but the dog already wins in this competition

I show dogs and right now I am looking at bringing in another?

My dog now is very fearful of other dogs-wont bite, but just gets big eyes and stiffens up.My problem is,.. this show puppy is amazing and I want him but how do I bring him in with out freaking my current dog out?

Answer
I too show dogs but I do it all over the world. I have three different breeds and have 10 show dogs at the moment.

My house can be a sort of zoo at times or a three ring circus whichever they are in the mood for at that time. For the most part they all behave and have no issues with one another.

Some of the dogs I have breed myself and have been here since they were born, but most of them were purchased and brought into the home from 3 months to 6 months of age.

The best thing for you to do is to implement crates with your dogs. I try to keep the new dog separate when in turnout or play time from the other dogs at first. This is good for two reasons. First it prevents accidents from happening, and the second it keeps my other dogs from picking up anything from the puppy if it has anything.

If I have had the vet look at the puppy already, we move right into the introducing and socialization period. This involves placing the new puppy by the other dogs in the house. All of them in their crates while it is bed or house time. I still let them outside or in the house to play separate. If I have a particular dog that I think that I will have problems with them accepting the new dog, I will start off with the new one closer to a different dog and gradually every night get them closer and closer to the problem dog.

This would work well in your situation by allowing your other dog to adjust to there being a new puppy in the house. Also letting the new puppy sleep on a towel or blanket a few days and then placing that item into the crate with the problem dog will help them get adjusted to the smell of the new puppy prior to having the new puppy next to them.

I dont know what breeds you have, but in my house we have dobermans and parson russells both of which can be territorial. They are usually great with new dogs, but I never take any chances especially when each one comes with a thousand dollar or more price tag. It is better to go slowly, get them used to being by each other while in crates, and then slowly go to socialization out of the crates.

The next thing that I do is have someone with the other dog on a leash and the puppy on a leash. They can smell each other, love on each other, or we can get them separated quickly. The best thing for you to do when the older dog is being accepting and not nervous/scared is to REWARD them for being that way. Do not reward them when they act badly. Do not anticipate that your dog is going to react in their "regular" way as they can pick that up off of you and then they will be more likely to react in that way even though it is not what you want them to do.

Once they are accepting of each other on the leash, leave one of them on the leash (this would be the puppy in your case), and let the older dog loose. Allow the older dog to smell, sniff, lick, clean, play, etc with the new puppy as long as they are being nice. If the older dog refuses to come up to you since you have the puppy, have some treats. Again reward (includes the treats) when they do what you what them to do- like coming to you to check out the puppy. Each of these phases can take several days to months depending on how much time you have to do it and the readiness of your dogs to accept it.

Once they are fine like this- meaning that the older dog will come up and be a normal dog with the puppy, you can take the puppy off of the leash. The thing that will scare your older dog is when the puppy goes bounding around the house just being a puppy. They will either get used to it by acceptance (maybe joining in too) or they will run and hide. Again, initiate friendly joint play with toys and reward your older dog when it does what you want it to in reaction.

There will be a time when the older dog will do the I am dominant thing or when the puppy will try and the older dog will say no. It is important that both of them know that YOU are alpha and not one of them. This will alleviate many problems in your household.

I have had one dog in the past 25 years that I just could not let be around the others. It was also one of my best dogs ever winning multiple performance awards. The dog was good enough for me to go the extra mile and keep it separate and run two shifts with the dogs.

Try not to leave them alone together even in the future until you are completely certain that they are getting along well together. Even though you say that your dog will not bite, you are bringing a new dog into its territory (I dont know the breed so dont know if this is a major or minor issue with their breeds), and anything might happen as their is always a first for everything.

I hope this helps! Good luck and hope to see you in the ring!

dog crate 24 x 18 image

I'm about to buy a soft crate for my dogs agility classes. I was wondering what size is good. She isn't a huge golden, she weighs about 60 lbs. There are 2 sizes:
36 inches L x 24 inches W x 27 inches H
42 inches L x 28 inches W x 31 inches H
I will be moving this around a lot so I would go for the smaller one but I want her to be comfy. Thanks!

Answer
If it were up to USDA, the dog would have to have enough room to invite over all of his friends, have a BBQ, go for jog, play some frisbee, and have about 5 area codes. Here's reality:

How to get Harvest Sprites at Harvest Moon DS?

JT_of_sr

I'm having trouble getting Sprites and Lumina is almost Orange heart and i have about 49

Answer
Here is a list of the easiest sprites to find on Harvest Moon DS (try copying and pasting it to a document for printing/better viewing):

1. Guts: You will acquire this Sprite in the first scene with the Witch Princess.

2. Neptune (Brown Team): Available from the start.

3. Mercury (Black Team): In your first scene with Guts, Mercury will be found.

4. Karaf: Press A next to your watering pond and he will appear.

5. Jet: Press A from the northern side of Van's orange crate at the end of
the corridor on the second floor of the Inn.

6. Jum: Press A next to the fountain in Romana's courtyard.

7. Tep: Press A in front of the stove on the western side of the Inner Inn.

8. Hops: Press A in front of the Well and he will appear.

9. Jackie: Try to leave the village by going east along the path to Mineral Town.

10. Riviera: Cast your fishing rod into your watering hole. (N.B. You
cannot do this from a distance by using a Necklace. You must be standing AT
the watering hole.)

11. Uranus: Raise one person's FP to 100

12. Misty: Fill your watering can 10 times. (N.B. You can do this again and
again without emptying the watering can.)

13. Spirity: Buy 1 Drink at the Blue Bar.

14. Roller: On 8 Spring, walk east across the bridge towards Vesta's farm.
(N.B. Roller is the Sprite who will open the Casino. Although you can find
the dealers for the Casino games on the first day of gameplay, the Casino will
not open until you have rescued Roller and he CANNOT be rescued any earlier.)

15. Veggie: Buy the Basket from Karen's Supermarket and place an item in it.

16. Venus: Purchase an item from Karen's Supermarket for 10 days.

17. Anime: Eat 30 pieces of wild grass. (Hold item in your hands, then press
the X button to eat it.)

18. Kamar: Ship 1 Cabbage.

19. Kali: Pick up your animals 50 times without using the touch Glove.
(Dog and Cat are included here.)

20. Mouton (Yellow Team): Use the Touch Glove 50 times to pet your Animals.

21. Earth: Rescue 20 Sprites.

The next group of Sprites listed may be rescued in a different order as the
order will depend on how often you perform the required task and, in the case
of two of the Sprites, the season of the year.

22. Beta: Wash your animals 50 times using the Brush and Touch Glove.

23. Sue: Collect Milk 100 times using the Touch Glove (In other words,
obtaining 100 bottles at once with a Level 100 Milker will not rescue this Sprite.)

24. Moor: Ship 1 Pineapple.

25. Vail: Ship 1 Pepper.

26. Souly: Buy 50 drinks at the Blue Bar.

27. Powery: Eat 80 pieces of Wild Grass.

28. Paige: Catch 50 fish.

29. Tilus: Destroy 100 small rocks with your Hammer.

30. Bran: Chop 100 branches with your Axe.

31. Saturn: Participate in 3 Festivals. (This includes eating a dish
prepared by Kai at the Beach Festival, so if you enter a Chicken in the Chicken
Festival and a Cow in the Cow Festival, Saturn will appear on Tuesday morning
after the Cow Festival.)

32. Fraw: Place 1000 items in your shipping container. (This will result in
the gift of a horse from Takakura as well.) N.B. Shipping 1000 pieces of bird
seed purchased from Popuri is a quick and inexpensive method of acquiring the
horse in the first week of gameplay. You can ship weeds but it will take
longer to collect 1000 weeds.

33. Kevin: Place an item in your horse's saddlebags. (Ship 1000 items to
receive the horse as a gift.)

34. Mars: Ship at least 300 of a single type of item produced on your farm
(crops, fruit, flowers or ranch products, but no processed items) (If you
upgrade your Milker by using it repeatedly, you can obtain 99 or 100 small
milks each time you use it to milk a cow. If you do not upgrade your milker,
you probably can ship 300 yams in your first Autumn without much trouble, as
they yield multiple harvests frequently.)

35. Fisher: Upgrade your Fishing Rod to Mystrile and use it.

36. Forest: Upgrade your Scythe to Mystrile and use it.

37. Valie: Upgrade your Axe to Mystrile and use it.

38. Roli: Upgrade your Watering Can to Mystrile Level, then use it.

39. Jupiter: Purchase 5 Records from Jet at the Sprite Company Shop

40. Yacht: Cast your Fishing Rod in the Duck Pond (Gotz must build this.)

41. Boohoo: Use the Touch Glove 100 times to pet your Animals.

42. Oran: Give Thomas the item he requests on 2 Winter

43. Decoy: Chop 250 branches with your Axe.

44. Stone: Smash 250 stones with your Hammer.

45. Pierre: Split 15 stumps with your Axe.

46. Alpen: Smash 5 large smooth stones with your Hammer.

47. Rocky: Smash 15 large smooth stones with your Hammer.

48. Wooly: Ship at least 300 combined Milk, Eggs and/or Wool.

49. Mick: Have a total of 10 Chickens and Ducks. You will need 3 Bird Barns
for them.

50. Red Ribbon: Have a total of 10 adult Cows

What should i do about my dogs kennel cough?

good dog kennel names on Cane Corsos - Dogs - Akilah
good dog kennel names image

my dog as kennel cough, is there anything i should do?
were going to the vet tomorrow and im just keeping her, my dog, in the house until then. I wasn't sure if there was anything i should do in the meantime.

Answer
Sorry to hear your pooch is sick. Yes, and what you can do to help your dog is take your dog to the vet before it dies and infects other dogs!

Kennel cough is caused by viral infections such as canine distemper, canine adenovirus, canine parainfluenza virus, or canine respiratory coronavirus, or bacterial infections such as Bordetella bronchiseptica. It is named "Kennel Cough", because the infection can spread quickly among dogs, such as in the close quarters of a kennel. It is highly contagious, even days or weeks after symptoms disappear. Symptoms begin usually 3 to 5 days after exposure and can progress to pneumonia.

Please if you love, your animals take him/her to the vet for antibiotics and once it is completely gone vaccinate your dog!

Hope pooch is better soon.

Is this a suitable cage for a dwarf bunny?

dog crate 24 x 18 on Mr. Herzhers Pet Residence Small Natural Wicker 20
dog crate 24 x 18 image

PetRescuer

I have a "Super Pet, My First Home Cage" for a pet rat. It's about 24" by 11" by 14". Is this okay for a dwarf bunny with plans for expansion and a once a day muliple hour run around? I was planning on getting a run around pen and leaving the cage open to have access to it, also spending a few hours with my bunny each day holding him. Would this be okay? Or is it too small? I just want to know if it will work because I just upgraded my two rats to a larger cage and I have that nice cage thats only 3 months old. If it won't work, that's okay. I want the bunny to be happy and healthy. I can wait until I can get a larger cage if that's what is needed. Thanks!

Answer
No, it's really small. The first cage I had for my first bunny (also a dwarf) was a Super Pet and was 30 x 18" and it was far too small for her. She couldn't do anything in it. Check out large dog crates, dog exercise pens, or build an NIC (also called C&C) cage. Here's a link to a cage I built for two dwarf hotots:
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a371/naturestee/100_0734a.jpg

They're easy to build, less expensive than pet store cages, and can be built to fit in the space you have. The cage in my picture cost $40 to build. Here's some good sites to check out:

What size dog crate should I get for my jack russell x Chihuahua?

bexy100

Answer
You've already posted this question. I guess a lot of people didn't know what a Jackawawa was. :P

Well, I'll just repeat what I said in my other answer:
I think a 24"L x 18"W x 21"H should do. If it is a puppy, still get that size and just use a crate divider to make the space smaller, and move it as they grow.

Could i make a guinea pig cage out of a old large dog cage?

kausgomu_m

I have a 6 year old Greman sheperd mix who is verry big. she has one of the extra large dog kennels. its whire not plastic or anything elce. the bace of it is plastic but i can take that out. also if i lined the bottem with something what would be good to use. i was thinking like wood and cardbord but would that work the best or do i have to do something elce.

Answer
Yes, you can use that and with some imagination, make a cool cage.

Be sure the piggie's feet would not be exposed to any wire flooring. This can cause very tragic injuries and sores. Wood and cardboard are not good choices for flooring. You need something more stable and water resistant like coroplast or linoleum.

Why wouldnt a dogsk kennel be suitable for a guinea pig?

Lexa- Mack

If the bottom is solid, and I build the sides up with fleece? My current cage is amazingly tiny and I have a large dog kennel that I am thnking about using, but everybody is saying they aren't safe for guinea pigs, why?

Answer
as long as it's large enough, the floor is solid with proper bedding AND the bars are close enough together it will be ok. you do NOT want the bars to be any further apart than 4cm (1.6in) or the pigs could escape.

Can a dog live in a garden storage house?

You know the ones they sell at home depot,
like the big green garden storage houses, with doors, and windows,
It seems same as an outdoor dog kennel. Can an outdoor dog live in there with a smaller dog house in it? Instead of a dog kennel?
It looks like this
http://www.lancasterbarns.com/acatalog/garden-shed-399.jpg

Answer
I don't think a dog would be happy living in a house like that without a yard. Would you be happy inside a box all day with no company? They sell dog houses like Trigunmarksman said, but they have a doggy door that opens into a yard. If they weren't air conditioned/heated the animal might overheat, or get too cold in the winter. A dog kennel like this one might work, although of course it would be better with a bigger yard. It would keep a small dog safe from predators also. Why get a dog if you don't have the space for it to run and do natural doggy things? Unless it was an indoor dog in your house all the time.

I have a dog I want to fly out to Denver Colorodo

Answer
If you do need to fly with your dog, make sure to thoroughly investigate travel plans with your airline company. Different airlines have various requirements from breed restrictions (for example, Continental wonât fly Rottweilers or Pit Bulls â I however will bite my tongue and not advocate the boycottâ¦), crate size restrictions, specific crate types or brands, temperature restrictions, identification or labeling protocols, and water and food requirements. Please check with the airline weeks in advance to make sure you arenât scrambling at the last minute. Check to see if the airline will allow you to take miniscule dogs on board in a soft-sided carrier. This often requires a $50-100 animal fee, and your dog must stay in the carrier under the seat at all times (which may require some sedation); this is to help respect those stuffy, uptight people around you who do not like animals or are allergic. It is typical practice to make amends with these people by presenting some sort of gift that shows the usefulness of animals, such as a new sweater threaded with dog hair. That way, they gain something from the dog in return for having to sit next to him. Everybody wins!

how much will it cost to ship dogs or puppys to hong kong from usa?

aster b

Answer
It depends upon where you're shipping from so you'll have to map your route and call air cargo for the cost. My last flight was with one cat and the total cost from Mebourne to Denver was $150 (plus, about, $30 in tips). If you're shipping from the east coast to west, you'll need to book a flight with a minimum of stops. Also, on this route (say from New York or Miami), the animals will need to be "rested" for 24 hrs. in Hawaii (is my guess) as it's illegal to allow an animal to be flown for more than a pre-determined number of hours.
If you're not, also, travelling (on the same flight), you'll need to book ahead at a kennel which will issue a receipt confirming the time the animals arrived and the time of discharge. You'll need to find out if the kennel will pick up the puppies for you - if not, you'll need to pre-book a limo' and confirm this after you've confirmed the airline has landed! You would book with west coast office of a well-known company (check Better Business Bureau) and tip the driver 25% of the charge. To be (semi-) sure the driver receives his tip, ask the person you book with to have the driver send a handwritten receipt for the amount - tell them it's to be a fully-paid business refund which you need to declare on your monthly expense report. Limousine drivers are more reliable than a taxi driver and the limo' company charges at a more reasonable rate for a fixed amount of time. Finding parking at an airport and checking in, perhaps, 3 - 4 hours before flight time, plus being responsible for the tickets and associated paperwork means this is a a lot of work. I believe you'll need to issue a permission letter for the limo' company driver to have possession of the animals - ask the airline.
You'll need health certificates from the veterinarian (duplicates) plus will need to tape a typed schedule in an easy-to-read type-face, 14pt., beginning with Day #1 and including every bit of information for example, name of Limo' company, driver's name, telephone number, approximate time of pick-up and delivery plus a copy of this in a zip-lock in each carry-case along with the original health certificates, etc. The duplicates will need to be put into a zip lock with a hole in a bottom corner & corresponding hole at the top for kitchen twine to be strung through and then tied to carry case.
Carry-cases must be an airline-approved brand and style appropriate for size and weight of pups. The water dishes, inside, will need to hold the most water possible (deeper rather than wider) and must be easy for crew to fill from the outside. They should be about 1-1/2 - 2 inches less than their height when standing (i.d.) but check dimensions with airlines. You don't want them to be able to fully stand as, if they're standing when the plane hits a down draft, other cargo may hit the crate hard enough to cause them to fall and a broken leg could be the result. It is best not to medicate them and, to "test them" for motion-sickness, take them on a 20-minute "joy-ride" - if they barf, they'll need dramamine (or similar). This reminds me that, in each crate, you'll need to put extra bedding in a giant-sized zip-lock in case one, or the other, gets sick - make a note of this and tape to top of cases. I don't know if it's possible to put two in a carry-case - perhaps if they weigh under a certain amount. Oh - and don't forget that they will be crossing the International Dateline so will need this typed in bright blue across the page before picking up with the remaining information.
If you're traveling with them - don't board the plane until you have seen the pups get put into cargo and ask for a confirmation call, or note, advising you they are on the plane.
Airlines will not fly animals in the summer unless you are bringing a tiny pet in the passenger cabin with you. There have been lawsuits because of animals dying in the cargo-hold so, if looking to ship to Hong Kong, you may have to wait until October - I've been in H.K. in September and it's, usually, Bloody Hot. The temps. at arrival airports are checked before boarding and you wouldn't want to leave the pups in Hawaii for a week.
Praise the Lord these days are behind me - my husband said I paid more attention to the pets than to him (think he was joking!).
