Stray dog showing signs of labor...?

KMM

I asked a question about a stray pregnant dog I found earlier, but now she's been panting heavy, nesting, and now she is really tired. She hasn't been trying to push though still, so I'm sure pups will be here today or tomorrow. My question is should I sleep in the living room with her just in case she goes into full labor and has complications, or should I put her in my labs XL wire kennel (she's a smaller dog) and sleep in my bedroom? I am trying to stay up as late as I can, but she is finally sleeping, so I thought about leaving her on my dogs bed (where she has made her nest today) in the corner of the living room and just sleeping on the couch in case she starts crying. I called the emergency vet, but it is 45 mins away, but I just let them know what was going on in case I have any complications with her. I sure wish this sweet girl was home with her family, but I can not find them and I think someone dumped her out here. :(

Answer
Putting her in a crate would likely upset her, so just leave her where she is. Dogs can normally give birth on their own without assistance, but there is always the exception, so staying near her might be a good idea.

You get what you pay for - what is the best brand of crate for dogs?

Just went and bought a XL crate for $70 brand new; thought it was too good to be true and it was. The thing collapses at the the slightest poke. It is an off-brand crate. So, since I hope to avoid this mistake next time, what brand of crate(wire), in your experience, is best built?

Answer
I would die to have one of these: http://www.tejascrates.com/

But for wire crates, Petmate makes a decent wire crate. The model they sell at Walmart isn't very durable but the one from Petedge.com is great.
