I feel really bad leaving my dog out outside when its really cold I would love to take him inside but he just tears everything apart I took him in my room but he tore my bed my shoes EVERYTHING! But I still feel bad I got him a bed and he tore that too I just wanted some suggetions on where and what should I do so he can have a warm good night sleep

Answer
From seeing my ex mother in laws experience with outside dogs, if you are set on keeping him outside, make sure he has shelter, whether it be a doghouse, a shed with a fence around it, a kennel with a runner, etc. Hay tends to help keep warm, they always filled the kennel with hay, and gave the dogs some old blankets that could be torn apart if they so desired. Their dogs would tear them up and make their own bedding, similar to how a bird makes a nest. They also would insulate the kennel with plastic over the top, and a sheet of rubber. (Her husband is a roofer so had easy access to these items, but you can get them at Home Depot or Lowes).

If you'd like to be able to bring your dog inside, get a crate #1. Crates are life savers! Depending on his age, you may already have a dog with bad habits set in, and possibly need professional help to disrupt this behavior. Some will offer free consults, just look up dog training in your phone book and find someone local. Your vet may also have some good suggestions, knowing your dog more personally than we do here, or be able to refer you to someone reputable in your area that specializes in the exact problem. Other answerers had some good suggestions; Kong, Nylabone and ropes are very good ideas. I personally like the Kong, because you can put treats inside, and this keeps them busy even longer trying to get the treat out! And, they are virtually indestructible. Good luck! Sounds like you really care about your pup, and I'm sure he'd love to be able to be in wtth you. The behavior needs to be controlled though before he destroys your home! My suggestion, insulate his shelter outside like I explained, and gradually work with him inside until you can keep in for good. Good luck!

Where is the best site to get a dog run?

I need to get one on a website. I hv a golden retriever he won't b in it all the time just a couple hours tops when we go somewhere. So a good size but nt too big

Answer
Sometimes you can find a used on on craigslist.org that is not expensive. Home Depot & Lowes carries them too. He might be better off indoors in a large crate or gated off in one room though, if you're not going to be home.
