I would like to start up a dog kennel and reptile breeding buisness in the near future because I just love dogs and exotic animals, but what would be an interesting name for such a place. I'd like a professional name, of course nothing too dumb and corny or anything. What do you think of CanineHerps? I thought of that name because dogs are, of course called canines (or canids) and we associate reptiles & amphibians with herping, herpetoculture, and herpetology and I thought that name would fit, but what are some others that can tell people its a place for dogs and reptiles?

How do I choose a dog kennel name?

I am researching into showing and breeding dogs, and I was wondering how to choose a kennel name that no one else in the breed is using. I know few people register their kennel names anymore. Is there some other way to check?

By the way, I am researching cost, longevity, breeding ethics, personal compatibility, mentoring breeders, health issues, showing, rescuing, etc, but I am not asking about them in this question. Thank you for staying on topic.

actually AKc has a free dog look-up in its store. Here is a link as its hard to find http://www.akc.org/store/free/
dog lookup can search on one word of the name - such as just the kennel name. input your dream breed and your dream kennel name and if even ONE dog is registered with it in AKC it'll come up. now if someone always abreviates the name there could be a problem but its unlikely....
keep the name short because no matter HOW many letters AKC lets you have, it'll be one too few for a name some time in your future. beyond that go for personal meaning
