If she's a friend that you trust, getting the money up front shouldn't be such a big deal.
How much did she offer? I'd be more comfortable asking her to set a price rather than demanding a certain amount (if I were in your situation).
Factor in the cost of gas and assume it will take you about 1-2 hours with the dogs daily (multiple 1/2 hour trips). I'd charge about $25 dollars per day plus the cost of gas.
