Soon to be

I was walking my dog at the park today, and out of no where a ferret climbed up my leg (scared the beejesuses out of me) and followed me where ever I went. I took it home with me and called the local animal shelter about the ferret. They say they don't take ferrets, but they'll try and help me in my quest to find the owners (she was wearing a pink collar but had no identification). I have no problem looking after her for a few days, but I have NO clue on how to care for a ferret! Can anyone give me some helpful tips?
PS. She's quite filthy as well. Do I bathe her?
Right now she's just roaming the house. I could put her in my dog's crate but that seems somewhat cruel.

Answer
ferrets are carnivores and not able to digest veg.
i found my ferret years ago, he crossed the road to me.
Bath her with ferret or baby shampoo in warm not too hot or cold water.
Feed dry or wet kitten food, or commercial ferret food. Dog food not enough protein.
She will use a litter tray with paper or wood based litter.
Bed in dog crate if want but they can get through small spaces so she may get out.
Sleep long hours but need plenty exercise.
Ferrets are curious by nature she will have gotten out and wandered off.
I would take her if lived near you but im in glasgow, where are you?
i phoned local vets to see if anyone missing ferret, put posters up in area i found him.
You could also put notices in local newsagents near where you found her.
She probably has a sad owner looking for her.
Despite their smell they are fun, cute and lovely pets.
I love freddy to bits :) x
