best outdoor dog kennel image
You know the ones they sell at home depot,
like the big green garden storage houses, with doors, and windows,
It seems same as an outdoor dog kennel. Can an outdoor dog live in there with a smaller dog house in it? Instead of a dog kennel?

I don't think a dog would be happy living in a house like that without a yard. Would you be happy inside a box all day with no company? They sell dog houses like Trigunmarksman said, but they have a doggy door that opens into a yard. If they weren't air conditioned/heated the animal might overheat, or get too cold in the winter. A dog kennel like this one might work, although of course it would be better with a bigger yard. It would keep a small dog safe from predators also. Why get a dog if you don't have the space for it to run and do natural doggy things? Unless it was an indoor dog in your house all the time.

Information on opening a dog kennel in MN?

I want to open a dog kennel in MN. I'm planning on doing only nails, bathing, drying and ear cleaning, I do not want to do hair cutting. I would also be doing boarding, dog walking....what do I need to start my business? I'm a HS graduate but would I need a diploma or certification? Which one would be better to have?

If I brought my Newfoundland in to your place of business - how would you do their nails? We use a Dremel on their nails. What about those dogs that hate to have their nails done or their ears cleaned - you will need different size muzzles or an assistant to help. Will you have one of those huge stainless steel tubs (easily a thousand $$$, some cost more than that) Do you know that it takes at least 2 hours to bathe and dry a newfoundland? Will you have that kind of time to be able to run your kennel too? I am not even including the time it takes to brush the dog out before and after the bath.
Really, what I am saying is there is so much to consider when starting up this kind of business. Do you have property out of town where noise won't be an issue? Which vaccinations will you require besides rabies? Do you have a wholesale source for dog food for those people that don't bring food for their dogs? You will need a computer program for data entry (there are good kennel programs out there). Your indoor kennels will need to be air conditioned. I know of a Newfoundland that was left in an outdoor run at a boarding kennel that died of heat exhaustion during a heat wave in summer, how well do you know your breeds? You will need insurance, kennel runs (indoor and outdoor) a play area, etc. Are you willing to give up your weekends because you can't afford to hire (and TRAIN) qualified help?
These questions are just the tip of the iceberg, there are so many more things to consider. If you choose to start this business, start small and invest your money back into the business so you can grow.
