My great dane needs a good home. pittsburgh pa?

my male 9 month blue great dane is my baby but he does not like kids. he has bit two children age 8 in the last month. im so very very sad to give him away but i cant have a dog that does not like children. i have two children of my own...(not that i worry about the dog around my children at all). he seems very good around adults. im not sure how he is around big dogs. please only serious answers. this is heart breaking that i have to give away my dog. i would love to give him to a great dane rescue in pittsburgh pa
I have been talking to a dog behaviour specialist. we had an appointment to start training him. but he just bit a family member for no reason and i cant keep him. the kid and him were playing all day.. it was late at night, the boy walked by food on the stove and the dog lunged at him out of no where. both bites were in the face, both bites seemed out of no where, and both children had to get stitches. i would never give the dog away and not tell the person who i was giving him to about his history. both incidents are recorded. i dont understand why he is this way with children. he was raised in my home with my children since week 7 of his life.

If your boy has bitten, twice, you can't simply rehome him, put him out there with another unsuspecting owner. So obviously you are going to have to make any prospective owner aware. And that's going to make it extremely difficult to find him another home. Where this dog is now depends on the circumstances surrounding these two bites. What were the kids doing with this puppy that caused him to bite. 'He doesn't like kids'......... I'd suggest this isn't normal, in itself. And if this is the case then there is every possibility his 'not liking' isn't going to stop at kids. In which case, worst possible, he's going to be best pts.
However, I don't see this is the answer here. First of all, get back to his breeder. Good breeders will always want to be involved in any rehoming and usually have a return clause in the sale Contract. It may not be possible for her to physically take him back if she has males in her kennel set-up already, but she should at least, be willing to help you find him a suitable home - and ASSESS him first.
If his breeder isn't interested, then contact Breed Rescue. They may well have experienced people on their waiting list who might be willing to take on this boy in the hope of rehabilitating him. And on that score, I'd get a trainer in to assess him - assuming his breeder is out of the picture. To find a Dane Rescue, contact the Breed Club, and ask.
