What should i pack for my 8 year old child and my dog?

We are going to San Diego & we are going from Chicago to there and we are going there to get a dog there. What should i pack for my child and for my dog when we get her?

Well, I'm assuming you know most of what your child needs. Clothes, any medications he/she may be on, toiletries. For entertainment, take books (if he/she likes to read), a gameboy, a portable DVD player, something he likes to do so he won't get restless and pesky on a long drive/flight.

As for the new dog, have a collar, leash, food, food dishes, a kennel (you will definitely want it for the long ride). When you pick the dog up, make sure you have all necessary papers. (vaccination records, etc).

Don't wanna order online and pay shipping. What stores carry these in stock?

Lowes sells one that is about 6'x10'x6' (wxlxh) for around $200, but only have them in stock during the spring/summer. They are portable...easy to set up and easy to take down; comes w/ a gate.
