How can I transport my dog without car?

I need to bring my medium size dog where 185.1km away from my home. It takes 5 hours by train. I don`t think dogs are not aloud to ride train, specially fast trains. I dont have car.

A lot of bus or train companies allow well behaved dogs although some will not allow "dangerous" breeds or dogs over a certain weight. Some also require them to be crated.

I take my dog on buses often and have never had a problem.

Fox why dont you get off your soapbox. Maybe the poster doesnt know how to drive, maybe they couldnt pass the test, maybe they have a medical condition that means they arent allowed to drive. My aunt cant drive because she is utterly terrified of being behind a wheel. Does it not occur to you that maybe the poster can easily afford a car but does not have one for other reasons. I have my sisters dog that is a medium size dog that i need to sent to her in idaho...i dont evn know what ype of breed it is more of a super mut with all respect....anyways I dont hitnk it even has all his shots..bottom line is there any way I can send her her dog with out getting special permission or health certificete feom a vet? as that are what the airlines require , please help.my sister loves her dog and wants to have it with her as she has recently moved to idaho from ca and was not able to take it with her at that time...thank you

You'll have to drive that dog if you don't want to get it's shots, and even then some states require health certificates for you to be traveling or visiting their state, so that's also something to be aware of.

A dog that is well taken care of should already be updated on his shots, so it sounds to be like your sister is S.O.L on this one. That dog needs to be vaccinated, shipping or not.

And NO airlines will allow you to ship a dog without a health certificate from a vet. A CLEAN bill of health. You'll also need an airlines approved shipping crate. Some airlines dont allow specific breeds, but since yours is a mutt, no problem, and others have size limits, which may be a problem for you.

My suggestion:

Call your airlines to get the specifics, and have your sister send money to take care of the dog she left behind.

I borrowed a rather large medium sized dog crate to take her to the vet in. Huge, I know~ But this was the only carrier I had available to me so I jumped at it. All of my pet carriers were stolen out of my garage.

I was wondering if I should let her heal in it for a day or two since I have three other cats and three dogs in the house.

I would put her in a room by herself with the crate open so she can come out are her own will. Put a small amount of food and water in their with her because she is still going to be a little groggy. Make sure you put a litter box in their with her and I am not sure about getting a special kind of cat littler but I would ask the vet about that. Keep an eye on her stitches and her because you don't want her to pull her stitches out. I would even suggest putting a towell or a blanket in the crate with her. I would wait a few days before bringing her back in with the other animals or let her do it at her own will but keep an eye on them to make sure they don't rough house with her and hurt her. my dog is a fox terrier, a small to medium sized dog, (about 15 pounds?) and he needs a new dog crate and bed because he out grew his old ones. how much could these cost me at my local pet store?

Have you tried Craigslist.com or Ebay.com? second hand shops might have them..but a small crate can be about $15-20 at walmart about the same for a dog bed too.

How do I keep my dog comfortable during a storm?

One of my dogs is terrified of storms, she has been ever since she was a puppy. She is about 7 now and is a medium sized mixed breed dog. Whenever storm come about I usually try to ignore the negative behavior or hold her wrapped up (you know the comforting pressure thing). She gets hot during storms and normally does not want to stay still or be wrapped up. Recently she has taken to hiding under my bed since I often ignore her behavior during night time storms. My question is, What can I do to help relieve her stress when I'm not here? Here separation anxiety isn't bad any more since she has another dog as a friend so I'm mainly worried about her during storms. In August I'm going off to a college that is five hour away. Obviously I'm not going to be here to take care of her and my parents don't understand that my dog is truly scared during storms. When I'm gone the dogs won't be able to get in my room (as my other dog steals things) and my parents do not allow pets in their room. I'm trying to figure out if I should use a crate or something for her to have as a safe spot? I figure I can I can tuck something behind the couch near my bedroom door Any ideas on how to set up a safe spot for her and how to get her to recognize it as that are greatly appreciated. Thank You.
