Crating dogs together..?

Me and a few other dog savy people (friends and family) have had a little doggy get together, just for fun and no specific breeds. We have everything from mixes to borders, pits, rotties, cattle dogs and jacks etc. Due to unforseen weather issues we have to bring all the dogs indoors (26 dogs total.) I only have 6 crates for large dogs and 3 for small ones and they are quickly filled up already. My cattle dog and my border collie are in one crate together but im kinda worried about putting dogs who have never been in crates together together. How can we insure that no fights break out in the kennels? We normaly keep the dogs outdoors in calf shelters with gates and straw and hay or a nice dog house, but its gone down to minus 15 and snowing and windy. Most are intact, and so far the past 2 days no fights or dominace issues. Tips or suggestions?
My border and my cattle dog have been in crates together before (ALOT of traveling and trials and such). But the majority of the other dogs have never been in crates with other dogs.

I don't EVER put dogs in crates together if I can help it- and NEVER ever do I kennel my dog with anyone else's dog. The only time I did it wound up with my dog getting bit with a laceration on her face.

I have also run into people who had two puppies kill each other- they were housemates, lived together and were crated together overnight- when the people woke up one of the puppies had killed the other.

Frankly- you CAN'T ensure that no fights break out especially when dogs are intact and thus more prone to aggression.

I would find another way to keep the dogs together- pens or rooms or something.

fold up dog crate for a big dog that folds up as small as possible?

my husband does K9 search and rescue. he currently has a wire crate for his search dog that folds up flat but it still takes up way too much space and is not great to carry everywhere with him like he needs to. we train Bloodhounds so the crate needs to be big enough for a 95 pound dog. does anyone know of a good crate for a big dog that folds up as small as possible so it can easily be thrown in a car without taking up too much space? the crate we are currently using is 42" wide by 26" long.

I don't know if this would be the kind of crate you would be considering, but have you thought about using the material fold up crate? It might take up the same amount of room, but at least it would be lighter to carry.

Also, there are crates that we use in agility, that are sort of like "pop-ups", you pull a chord and it opens, made out of like parachute material, it folds up into a bag. Something like this:

I have friends who have the Umbra Pet Tent and they love it, they have medium sized dogs though, ones a Portie and the other is a Beardie.

Can you use a dog crate for a chick brooder?

Okay, so we are getting chicks tonight, and right now we are preparing their brooder. We were wondering if we could use our dog's crate for the chick brooder. If we cut a hole in it where we would hang the heat lamp, would that be okay? Thanks:)

I would imagine so as long as it isn't too enclosed so it doesn't over heat, there needs to be a good air flow.

Only day old chicks need intense heat (35C) and just for maybe 4-5 days then it can be lessened quite quickly to say 26-28C within a week if the brooder is indoors. How old are your chicks? If they all lie away from the red heat lamp it is too hot and you need to raise it, they they huddle under it they are cold so lower it slightly.

Best to get a thermometer really and pop it at floor level in the brooder directly under the heat lamp for an hour to see what temperature it actually registers before you get the chicks.

What is the best food I should be feeding an overweight 11 month old dashhound.?

He weighs 26# and I feed him 1 time per day (1 cup regular dog food) He is crated for 8 - 9 hrs a day with very little exercise.

I don't understand why you are feeding your CAT dog food and i have never heard of such a breed. No duh take him for regular walks and feed him TWICE a day take him to the vet to see what they recomend. If you don't you are not a suitible dog/cat owner. I don't think a dog should be left alone that long.
