Have you ever used the kennel services at Disney?

Misty

We are going to WDW in early may and I'm ofcourse happy but am not sure what I will do with my dog yet. I'm am very attached to her as are many pet owners. I've read about the Kennel servies at WDW and ofcourse there are all different opinions but I'm wondering for anyone who has used their services what did you think of it?

I ofcourse would love to leave her at my house where she is most comfortable but we are going on a mother's day trip and don't have a very big family so I have no one to take care of her (and also she won't let anyone she doesn't know come into the house)

How did your dog like it?
My dog thinks she is a person! lol she likes to watch TV and she can open the porch door and she definitly has a person attitude, So I'm not sure how she will adjust to the change, she's never really been around other dogs, just maybe 2 or 3 and especially not so many at one time.
Thanks Rotten Rotts :)

Also answerer #1 I would really love to leave her at home but even when we are here she unaquivically will not let anyone in the house unless I personally answer to door lol she is very protective and with us not here I don't think it's an option at all for anyone to come to the house especially someone she doens't know
I would love to leave her at home but seriously there is NO ONE who can do it seriously this is last resort my family is going with me I have no neighbors that I trust and I only have one friend I trust to do it for me and they live 3 cities away :( But thanks for the answers

Answer
I am not sure about the WDW kennels didnt even know they had any! But we sent our oldest dog to a "doggie hotel" about 2 years ago and it was so sad :( They kept them in little kennels I cant bring myself to leave my dogs in a kennel again. We now either have someone come to our house and watch them or we take them to a friend or family members house to watch them. How ever we do keep them up to date on all of their shots that they would need to have to stay in a kennel like kennel cough and so on just incase there is some sort of emergency where we would have no choice but to leave them in a kennel. Is your dog up to date on kennel cough and distemper and so on. I would get a list of all the shots dogs should have before staying in a kennel and if its your only choice then make sure your dog has all the shots even if the kennel dosnt have a policy saying they have to. Its better to have your dog protected then have it get sick from some other dog. Also if you have to kennel you dog maybe find one that they will let you come and visit. Make sure it has a nice area that your family can take your dog to play with it and walk with it once or twice a day. I will not say that all kennels are bad there are some really good ones. It is also true that its good for your dog to go to a kennel if its a good one to be socialized and so on. The kennels like Central Bark and so on are really good they also have a doggy daycare and have lots of stuff for dogs to do. I would also see if you can get your dog a room instead of a kennel a lot of good kennels with offer this for about $5 more a day but its worth the cost for you dog to have more space and a better environment. Good luck and I hope things work out for you and your dog!

Disney World pet friendly hotels?

It's all f

Can anyone please give me some hotels ON the Disney World grounds that are pet friendly??! Answers are greatly appreciated! =)

Answer
None of the hotels on Disney property allow dogs. There are kennels located throughout Disney property where you can board your dogs. The ONLY spot that you can have your pup stay with you is in your own motorhome/trailer at the Fort Wilderness Campground. Dogs are NOT allowed in the cabins, nor are they allowed in tent camping. You have to have your own camping vehicle to have your pooch with you at the campground.

The kennels are unattended at night, which doesn't seem very safe to me. They give you a number to call in case you need to get in there, but otherwise there is no-one there. (I think worst case scenario: fire... what would happen to them?) Plus, you are responsible for taking them out for their exercise.

Just leave your pup at home with a friend, relative or monitored boarding facility... it'll be much happier and you'll rest easier, too.

EDIT: The kennel is at the Fort Wilderness Campground not the Wilderness Lodge. And although you can walk it, dogs are NOT allowed on those paths, so you would have to drive to drop him/her off. And, the Wilderness Lodge is Moderate not Deluxe.

Disney World - Stay In Park Or Out Of Park With 3 Kids And Dog?

best friends dog kennel disney on In what seems like the newest doggy trend, pets can relax on vacation ...

My husband and I are overwhelmed with all the options of a WDW Vacation. We plan on going to the parks about 7 days of our visit. 5 people total and a dog. Are the kennels at the parks good? Or would we be better off getting a hotel out of the park that is pet friendly? There are so many pros and cons to both of these options I can't decide which to choose.
Leaving the dog home is NOT an option! I want the best for kids and dog.
Dog HAS to come with us. He is treated as a family member. We don't have anyone else to care for him anyway. If you have used the kennels at the parks please let me know how well your pet did and how you felt about the kennel experience.
This is going to be a one time Disney experience for my children so I want the best for ALL.

Answer
Normally I always recommend staying onsite at Disney. It is the best way to experience Disney, especially if this is a once in a lifetime trip. However, Disney does not allow dogs at their resorts (except for service animals). The only option you would have with Disney is Fort Wilderness Campgrounds, not sure if you are wanting to camp for the vacation, but that would be the only place you can bring your dog.

If you really want to stay somewhere nice that will allow pets and make for a really nice vacaton, I would recommend staying at one of the Universal Resorts. They are a little higher in cost then most of the Disney resorts, but very nice and worth the cost. I believe they charge a $25 fee to allow pets.

The other option is going to be offsite. If you choose to go this way, just be sure to do a lot of research. Many of the hotels offsite are not in the best condition. When they allow pets, the overall quality can be decreased, as many of them don't clean very well.

Just be sure that you find out all requirements that you need. You will likely need proof of vaccinations, and a paper from your vet stating that the pooch is healthy. You definitely don't want to get there and find out that you are missing something.

I personally have not taken my pets with me on vacation. One is pretty sensitive to heat, the other has allergies and things like that, and I have several pets, so it would be difficult to take them with me. Also, I've always been a little concerned how well the rooms are cleaned so that I know my dog is not going to catch anything from staying there. I've had some friends stay in pet-friendly rooms that they were not very satisfied with the quality. So, I leave my pets at home with their regular care-takers and things so I know they are well taken care of.

Now, as far as kennels, again, I've not used them. However, the people I've talked to that have has been very happy. I believe that Disney does require you come by a few times a day to walk your dog and play with them a little bit. So, you will have to schedule that into your day. I will include a link with some reviews of the kennels for you to look over.

I hope this helps!

does orlando studios allow pets?

Melody

is there some sort of dog boarding area? how much?

Answer
What is this "Orlando Studios" that you speak of? Do you mean Disney's Hollywood Studios? Or Universal Studios Orlando?

Both Universal and Disney have provisions for those who wish to board pets.

Universal Studios has a daytime kennel for cats and dogs only, and it is by a first-come, first-served basis. You must have proof of vaccinations, and you are able to leave your animals there from 8 AM to 3 AM. The kennel is locked after 2 ours after the last Universal park is closed, but you can reach them by telephone.

Further info: https://www.universalorlando.com/Resort-Information/Theme-Park-Services.aspx#kennel

Disney also has "Best Friends Pet Care" kennels available. Reservations are strongly encouraged to ensure you have room for your animal.

Disney's official info: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/best-friends-pet-care/

Disney resort guests have a base rate of $34 for an Indoor Suite, and you can pay up to $15 for a playgroup option, $4 for an ice cream break, $8 for a walk/explore option, etc.

Answer
Yes, Fort Wilderness is the only pet friendly Disney hotel! It is set up in "loops," and several loops are designated pet friendly. http://allears.net/acc/faq_fw.htm

in addition, Disney World does have kennels which are managed by Best Friends Pet Care. One of these kennels is located near Fort Wilderness's entrance. They offer day care, grooming, and doggy day camp. http://allears.net/tp/kennels.htm

u might think I'm crazy Disney world?

Q. I'm 12 and i want to go to Disney world for our 2010 summer i know It's like a whole year from now but what. so what should i do to start planning and i found this hotel that is pet friendly. HELP ME PLAN AND SHOULD I BRING MY PUPPY i found out the at the outer gate of each park there is a kennel for pet. and should we drive which is like 2 days or take a airplane

Answer
I would wait a little bit until you book, or start looking around for prices. Disney may have a special offer, and if you book before that time you may not get it. You can to the Disney World website and mock up a vacation.

I wouldn't bring your dog, I would leave him with a relative or friend he knows. You probably won't see him to much, and Disney doesn't allow pets at their resort.

I would also recommend flying. It maybe a little expensive, but so is gas.

I would stay on Disney Property.

Since you're planning to go to Disney World I would suggest Disney's Pop Century Resort. It is only about $82 per night and they give your transportation around the Walt Disney World Resort and to your hotel from Orlando International Airport free.

Here is Pop Century's Website:

Use this website as well, it great for when you're planning or just need a Disney fix:
