best dog kennels glasgow image
Julie Smit
I am thirteen and I was wondering what I could do and how much I need to stand a good chance at getting into vet med
How many weeks do I need etc
This is my current work experience
3years dog walking
4 days tower farm stables (I'm going back in feb, march, summer etc. . )
Gorgie farm- young farmers helpers 06-08
I am planning to
Volunteer at gorgie farm
Lambing in April for a few days
Blair Drummond junior keeper for the day
Go back to tower farm stables
Get kennel club good citizen bronze silver and gold with my collie
When I am older
Edinburgh zoo keeper for a day
Vet spotting
Cattery
Kennels
Cat and dog shelters
People say that abattoir is fantastic on CVs but I am not sure if this is possible as I live in edinburgh
What ages do I have to be to do the stuff I want to do when I am older
I think kennels, catterys and shelters are 15/16 but the rest I am not sure
Also any other suggestions.
I am aspiring to go to glasgow
P.s. I know this is serious forward planning but ohwell
Im not sure about abbatoir and my mum doesnt want me doing work experience there
Answer
Very well done.. Plus you absolutely have to forward plan for vet med, as experience is essential!
Get yourself to the abattoir once you are 16! It looks great for your application, as this will also be a part of your professional training! There are plenty of them about, and unfortunately you probs will have to leave edinburgh for some work experience, it shows dedication!
Try and get time on a dairy farm, riding for the disabled is also good as it shows people skills etc! Shadow at different practices, once your 16, unless you know your local vet who may let you in earlier :)
I think you are very much on track and keep up the good work! And .. Good luck!
