dog crates 24 x 36 image

Hello, I'm traveling with my basset hound and need a carrier for her. The problem is the airline company maximum measurements for the crate are unreal: Maximum of 24'' for height and 36'' for depth. I actually need one of 36'' D, since I'm carrying a Basset, but the height would exced the permitted, which is 24''. I can find only 27'' of heigh, that seems to be the default height for 36''.
Some know of a carrier with 36'' of depth and 24'' of height?
Thank you!
Answer
It's your money they want. A lot of times, their dimension requirements are a little off and you have no choice but to buy on of their carriers at the airport. Some airlines even state that the dog has to have at least X amount of headroom when standing. Tell that to my whippet.....
Anyway airport crates are not overly expensive but it's still a rip off.
Iris makes a FAA / IATA approved kennel that's 24.4 x 25.8 x 34.2 inches, and I believe that's one of the closest dimensions. the plus 0.4 is probably negligeable. So you might want to look into that.

Dog crate... small car?
Julie
I may be getting a dog and I am looking into getting a crate for the dog. I don't know how to get the dog crate from the pet store to my house. I have a pretty small car - a toyota corolla. Any ideas/suggestions? It will be a medium dog crate so probably around 36" x 24" x 27".
what about those plastic ones?
Answer
If you are getting a metal crate they collapse down to the size of the base and are only about 3-4" high. should easily fit in your backseat standing up. If you opt for the plastic airline crates they stack, the tops come off and fit into the bottom. A bit more room needed but should still fit.
