Why is my potty trained dog peeing in house?

My dog is crate trained (we always have him out when we are home) and potty trained. He suddenly is peeing on the floor right in front of us. He peed on the wall twice, the floor about five times now in the last week. He also is going to the bathroom in his crate. We always let him out at least every 4 hours to go to the bathroom. Where is this coming from?? He's also having some other behavioral issues... I'm not sure where that's coming from either. Mostly we are wondering about the peeing and pooping. Let me know!

Why do some people still believe that crating a dog (especially a puppy) for 8 hours is ok?

There's no way on earth I or anyone I know can go 8 hours without having to potty. (I know dogs are different, but not THAT different)! It has been proven that dogs crated for this long grow to have kidney and bladder problems as they age. Actually this is really a question still! Anyone feel differently?

Well I believe in crating a dog but for not for 8 hours although my adult dog can stay in the house for 12 hours before even asking to go out many times, I know puppies are way different and I wouldn't recommend leaving a dog in a crate that long. I plan to get a puppy in the future and the plan is that I work about 4-5 hours a day but my husband works a different shift so during that time I will set an alarm for him to get up and take the puppy out once then I will do the same when I am sleeping and we will both have at least 8 hours to play with the dog together and another hour or two for each of us separately. When it gets closer to that time we will review and set up a schedule so the dog never has to be in the crate for more than 4 hours to begin with. If I don't have a job yet it will be even less time in the crate.

Well, here's the problem with your response besides that AKC stands for American Kennel Club, not Association. AKC is a record keeping organization and does NOT hold any type of training classes at all. They hold Conformation Shows, Agility Trials, Obedience Trials, etc., etc. If the person is asking about a certain breed, you would need to tell them to contact someone from that specific breed club, such as the Doberman Pinscher Club of America, the West Highland White Terrier Club of America, etc. Once you go to the National website, you can look for further information for the exact area, such as Denver, Tampa, Detroit, Cleveland, and so on.

Add: So in other words......"Perhaps you could try contacting someone from the (Insert breed name) Club of America, look up your state and location, and get in touch with either a breeder or member of that given Club to see if there are any training classes near you."

The prior poster pretty much covered it. Airlines charge by zones and dim weight in addition to total weight of dog and kennel. In hot weather conditions depending on where the dog is coming from and arrival time, many airlines will stipulate early am or evening departure. Airlines can vary with price. I breed Miniature Pinschers and recently had one shipped from LA to Seattle, cost was $163.00. This did not cover the kennel cost or the health certificate. I know that Denver is zoned the same so the other dog I have coming in over the next couple months will be about the same price but I have to use a different airline as the one I used prior does not go to Denver. Check the internet for each airline. They usually give you a map of the US broken into zones which will help. Being that MA and FL are in the same zone, price will most likely be determined by the dim weight of the kennel and dog combined. Dim (dimensional) weight is measurement of height, width and length so that they can determine the space in the hold the kennel will take up. Dim weight is used for nearly all freight transporting to ensure full loads and proper compensation to the carrier for size of cargo.
