Miniture American Eskimo-is it a good dog?...especially around children?

I'm planning to get a miniture american eskimo in vancouver....but im not sure if its a good dog..espicially around children. I work as a surgeon and im not sure if it requires special needs..plz state ur opinion. Don't just say "i have one"

I own two of these dogs and I can tell you with no hesitation that they make great pets they are self cleaning and are great for people with alergies. For some reason they do not affect people who have a problem with dog fur.

They have a tendency to bark but they are great watchdogs and alert you when something is out of the ordinary. Mine even noticed a broken fence board and barked at it until I touched it so they knew I had seen it.

They require at least a daily walk for about a mile and a brushing at least every other day but the good news is since they are self cleaning they should only be bathed about two or three times a year.

They are great with family members and other pets but without training will try to become leaders.

They will shed lots of hair but your house will not smell like dog. They "blow" their coats a couple of times a year after they are fully mature (about 2 years).

They make great companions and wonderful pets. They are smart, eager to please, very trainable, and will attract lodas of attention. Socialize them early and they will love everybody.

They used to be the dogs in the circus and excell at agility course training.

If you will not be home during the day or night they accept crate training very well. Mine spend the night in their crates next to my bed.They consider it their cave or den and feel safe in there.

All my dog does is go to the bathroom in the house.?

I have a 10 month old Pom/Japenese spanial mix, all she does is go to the washroom in the house poo and pee, nothing is medically wrong with her. We have done crate training she goes in there we, have kept he tied up let her outside every 20 mins we turn are back she's pooped everywhere again. we feed her only 3 times aday and let her out 20 mins after still goes as soon as she gets in. funny thing is she will go outside to and then come in and go again. Does anyone know any trainers or anything in the Vancouver, Canada area. We really need help, we love her and would never get rid of her or hit her, but she does need to learn and scolding does not phase her.

The first thing you should do is clean the floor with bleach and water. Right now, she is smelling the scent from her previous mishaps, and thinks that is where she needs to go. If you have carpet on the floor, you'll need to take it up and get rid of it, because no matter how much you clean it, the scent will stay in it. After you remove the carpet, then clean the bare floor with the mixture I stated above. This is a good start, but you'll also need to watch her to make sure she doesn't go back to the washroom and start all over again. One thing that I have found that works very well is to get a spray bottle, and fill it with water. Any time she does something bad, squirt her with the water. She'll soon understand that she won't get sprayed if she doesn't do that! Here is a good site to start with.
