Answer
You could always try a breed-specific rescue group. Here's a place called Virginia German Shepherd Rescue. http://www.shepherdrescue.org/ These folks should know a bit of history on the dog that's been rescued along with possibly even their medical history. Who knows, they may even have papers on some of them, too.

Good Luck and I'm sure they've got many purebreds that desperately need a home.

Hope this helps some. I love German Shepherds, too.

I need help with my dog!!?

I have a pit bull he's neutered and he does not get along with any other dogs or I'm not sure I trust him around my toddlers. We got him off someone that kept him caged up in a crate almost 24hrs a day. No kennel around me will take him. They just tell me to put him down because they don't take aggressive dogs. He's a good dog for an older couple or a couple or person that don't have any dogs or little kids. I really don't wanna put him to sleep So please HELP ME!!

I live in WV if you know anywhere that will take him or have any advice please let me know.

Answer
Have you looked into Pit Bull Rescue's?

Wardensville West Virginia, has a pitbull/amstaff rescue.

http://pbrc.net/webapp/cgi-bin/organization_detail.cgi/8f21970f069bd98548141960d42a5897?id=2630

they're not accepting dogs right this second, but call or email them and tell them your story. They'll put ya on a waiting list.

What he really needs is training and discipline and exercise.

**EDIT if you're really looking to place him in another home, i'd look into the pitbull rescues. virginia has a whole bunch of them!
