My indoor dog is 3.5 years old and she is great. She rarely has accidents in the house. While I fully expect accidents, I need to know how to train her to use a certain place in the house for those accidents. I am patient and I know this takes time, I'm simply looking for technique advice.

I use a special treats as a reward (one that he normally doesn't get)... the dog only gets it when he/she goes OUTSIDE.

I start out by taking the dog outside, and saying "go pee" or "go poop" over and over. When the dog goes, then I carry on like I the Publishers Clearing House Prize Van just pulled in to my driveway!!!! And, I give the treat right there on the spot!

It's important that you pay very close attention to the dog. Keeping it leashing inside with her will help with this. If you can't be right there, then you should crate the dog.

You should take the dog out frequently. If you doesn't know what times he/she generally needs to potty, then keeping a log might help.

How much would it cost to ship an adult 65 pound dog?

I am giving away my 2 year old Australian Cattle dog to a woman who lives in Arkansas and I am in California. Does anyone know an estimate of how much it would cost to ship the dog to her? And would it even be safe for the dog because she's so big? I know of people shipping puppies to people and that costing around $200 but has anyone ever tried to ship a bigger dog?
Thanks for the help in advance.
I have to give my dog away because she keeps getting out of our yard, no matter what we do, we can't seem to keep her inside our yard. We are giving her to a person who owns a farm where the dog will have more room and more to do. I don't want to give her up but I don't want anything bad to happen to her since she keeps getting loose.

Call Continental Airlines 800.575.3335 and press #8 and someone can help you. Continental has a wonderful pet shipping service. The dogs are in a climate and pressure controlled cabin with the same climate and pressure as people; they are safely in the crate you provide, which is then put in an appropriate sized bin and strapped in. They have trained personnel. They are never left out on the runway. They are in Pet Cargo (heated or cooled, depending on the season); they go to the plane by van; they are brought inside for layover or change of plane by van.

I've shipped many, many puppies and birds with Continental and have never had anything but a wonderful experience. In fact, a parrot missed its connecting flight and they called me to tell me.

I know the price for up to 50 pounds is right at $200, but don't know the price for over 50 pounds. They do require that the dog has been seen by a vet and has a Health Certificate and, if over 4 months, a rabies shot.

Good luck!
