What is the best carrier for my large pet?

I have a 40 lb pitbull that I would love to be able to take on the subway. Trouble is, there are no carriers large enough for her. The only one I've found is $400, which is absurd. Has anyone found a soft duffel-style or even a suitcase-style carrier that can handle my 27" long pet?

You plan to carry a 40 lb dog onto the subway? WHY? The only reason you should do that is if it's absolutely necessary, like taking it to the vet. I hope you're a man, because a 40 pound dog plus a 10-20 lb kennel is gunna be pretty difficult to carry around.

I want to know how much you spend on your dog a month or a year.

I adopted a dog a month ago and I have already spent almost $400 on his food, equitments, vet visits and grooming... It's a lot! I really want to know how much other pet owners are spending on their furry babies.

We just adopted two puppies who "bestowed the gift of Parvo" upon us, so in the past month, adoption fees + vet visits + food + crates + toys = about $1500.

We also have two medium-sized adult dogs who only cost about $60 a month for food/toys.
